Resonance, Self is an interactive, audio-visual exhibition that explores the convergence of physical, digital, and auditory domains of both the self and the experience. Through the amplification and augmentation of personal identity, Resonance, Self evokes curiosity and heightens awareness of one's connection to their conscious experience, using audio and visual feedback to curate the experience.
Resonance, Self was solo exhibited at the Center for Performance Research on April 15 & 16, 2023.
The installation invites visitors to approach a series of analog oscilloscopes, where their image is then transformed into real-time audio waveforms. The audio is played back throughout the experience and is simultaneously visualized as waveforms on the oscilloscopes and a series of RGB lasers.
Viewers are able to see their own mirrored image visualized on both the lasers and oscilloscopes, thus making them not only an audible waveform but a waveform that can be recognized as their own self.
The viewer exists as something audible, but retains their own image; their identity is retained within the waveform.
At the heart of the installation is an audio-visual feedback loop, where the visuals inform the audio and the audio informs the visuals. The viewer becomes both listener and audio, while the audio reflects the viewer's presence. The presence
Everything converges in a unified experience.
